Other Hydro Technology Discussion

By nature Neo-Aerodynamic and head (dam) base turbine are not comparable; however you can see some of it  in the  Technical Advantages page and the  Technical Disadvantages page

We use this opportunity to go through some discussions on Neo0Aerodyamic Vs Water wheel and Tyson's turbine technologies.

Water Wheel

Pic 2 This is the earliest machine to harness free-flow hydro energy. The machine harness the  kinetic power of the flow using the force. While most of them are river bank installation there are also attempts to make on a floating dock.

This kind of "drag" machine has  stayed in human history for thousands of years until the last century. It has been a proven fact that  the lift base machine has the much higher rate of power harnessing.

Tyson's Turbine

Beside Neo-Aerodynamic, perhaps Tyson's turbine is among the most effective mean to harness the energy in the flow (river).  Depend on the type of the turbine; it either can be a "lift" o a "drag" machine. It's is our opinion; that perhaps the propeller does not give out a good ratio of conversion therefore we have not much heard about it. Tyson's turbine requires fairly deep river course This also contributes to its lack of popularity.

Some reasons that Neo-aerodynamic is THE viable technology

1- In compare with drag base machine such as water wheel, with a good foil design a lift base machine could yield as much as 30 times the efficiency.

2- Among the available lift base designs only Neo-aerodynamic immunes itself from the turbulence. Unlike "wind". the flow of the waterway has too many things to cause the unwanted turbulences. It could be debris, fish or even a boat passing as much as  mile away.

3- Neo-aerodynamic design can be independently scaled either wider o higher or both to fit the selected location.

4- Base on our "wind" tests, Neo-aerodynamic designs produce the most.
